Wood Perfect: One More Thing to Rest Easy About

IMG_15392

Lumber that is decidedly excellent and carefully planed. Because to build an exceptional sauna, you need to get the fundamentals right.

Sometimes we’re asked the question, “The wood that you use in your saunas? Yeah, what’s that treated with?”

The answer: nothing.

We use only all-natural, kiln-dried sections of wood that haven’t been treated with any chemicals. Instead, for our Outdoor Barrel Saunas we use thick, high-grade sections of Western Canadian Red Cedar, a lumber that is naturally resistant to

Mildew                 Mold                     Insects

We also mount every Barrel Sauna on strong synthetic support cradles that elevate its undercarriage and keep it dry.

For more safe sauna maintenance solutions, consider the following options:

  1. Apply a stain to the exterior of your sauna that contains a UV inhibitor. This will help keep the red cedar looking rich and new.
  2. Some people like the look of our Barrel Sauna Roof Kits, sections of rust-resistant corrugated metal that screw into the top of the sauna and provide added protection against precipitation.
  3. We also sell gray cover jackets that are waterproof and UV resistant. They completely cover the sauna and zip up nice and tight.
  4. Clean the interior of the sauna with a mild solution of water and baking soda, and sweep it out every now and then as needed.

Our saunas are good for your health in more ways than one, and they’re noticeably easy to maintain. Every time you climb inside, we want you to be able to sit back, breathe deeply, and rest knowing that you are surrounded by superior quality in every sense of the word.
