What Is a Hybrid Sauna?
A hybrid sauna looks similar to a traditional wooden sauna but is fitted with both a conventional heater and infrared panels. Use the heater for the full Finnish sauna experience — rocks, steam, high heat — or switch to infrared warmth for a lower-temperature, deeply penetrating session. Your preferred mode, your choice.

What is infrared heat and how is it different from a traditional sauna?
Infrared saunas use invisible light waves to warm your body directly, rather than heating the surrounding air. This means infrared operates at lower temperatures (100-150°F vs. 150–194°F for traditional) while still delivering deep, penetrating heat. Traditional saunas heat the air in the cabin, which then heats your body — and allow you to add steam by pouring water on heated rocks. Both deliver meaningful wellness benefits; the key difference is how the heat reaches you.

Neither is objectively better — they’re different experiences suited to different goals and preferences. Infrared is generally more accessible for daily use due to its lower operating temperature, faster heat-up time, and gentler feel. Traditional sauna offers a more intense, higher-heat experience with the option for steam. Many of our customers love the hybrid option precisely because it gives them both without compromise.
Can I use a hybrid sauna as just a traditional sauna?
Can I use a hybrid sauna as just a traditional sauna?
Yes. On a hybrid sauna, the traditional heater and infrared panels operate independently. You can use traditional heat only, infrared only, or both together — your Fenix controller makes switching between modes simple. You never have to use the infrared panels if you prefer a traditional experience.
Do infrared panels glow red? Are they red light therapy panels?
Do infrared panels glow red? Are they red light therapy panels?
No — infrared panels do not glow red, and they are not red light therapy (photobiomodulation) panels. Our infrared panels emit far-infrared heat waves that are invisible to the eye. They operate silently and without visible light emission. Red light therapy uses a specific wavelength of visible red or near-infrared light for different therapeutic purposes — this is a separate technology from our infrared sauna panels.
