What are Infrared Rays?

Infrared is the band of light we perceive as heat. We cannot see this band of light with the naked eye, but we can feel this type of light in the form of heat. Our sun produces most of its energy output in the infrared segment of the spectrum. Infrared rays heat your body without having to heat the air in-between. This process is called conversion

What are the different kinds of Infrared Heat?

The infrared is divided into 3 segments by wavelengths measured in microns: Near Infrared – 0.76-1.5 microns; Middle Infrared – 1.5-5.6 microns; and Far Infrared – 5.6-1000 microns. Among these segments, Far Infrared penetrates organic substances such as the human body two to three inches so that the warming effect is very uniform.

Which infrared sauna is near or Far infrared?

The Harmony Infrared Sauna is Far infrared, while the Himalaya Infrared Sauna combines near and far infrared technology.

What is the difference between near and Far infrared?

Near-infrared (NIR): shorter IR wavelengths (~0.7–1.4 µm). They penetrate deeper into skin (millimeters) before being absorbed, so they heat more quickly and can warm tissue below the surface. Far-infrared (FIR): longer IR wavelengths (~3 µm–1 mm). They’re absorbed mostly at the skin’s surface (by water in the skin), so they heat you from the outside-in, with “deep warmth” coming later from heat spreading through tissue and blood flow.

In feel: NIR = faster, more intense, direct heat; FIR = gentler, slow “soaking” warmth.

What temperature does an infrared sauna reach?

Infrared saunas typically operate between 120°F and 145°F, offering a comfortable and relaxing experience at lower temperatures than traditional saunas.

How long does it take for an infrared sauna to heat up?

It takes 45-60 minutes for an infrared sauna to reach its maximum temperature but an Infrared sauna is usable after about 30 minutes
