Product Overview

The Appalachia will impress anyone who steps foot inside the sauna. It has a full front porch, an attached changing room, and a spacious sauna room. The changing room can be outfitted with a variety of furniture or hooks, and is the perfect spot to get ready for a sauna even in the middle of winter. The sauna room has two bench levels, which can be split between six people for a sauna party or allow just a few people to stretch out and relax. The cabin design includes a sloping roof, interlocking timber pieces, a railing, and solid lumber. The sauna room can be outfitted with a Harvia 8kW electric heater or a wood-burning stove. If you favor convenience, the electric heater can delay the start time up to eight hours before it heats the room up to temperatures of 180ºF. Upgrade any backyard, retreat, or lodge with the Appalachia cabin sauna! A single layer of roofing shingles is included.

Please note, due to its size, this unit ships via flatbed. Please review the Flatbed Shipping Policy to ensure you are prepared for your sauna's arrival!

NOTE: This sauna has an expected shipping lead time of 8-12 weeks based on location.

Care & Maintenance

To best preserve and enhance your investment, be sure to wipe down the interior and vacuum as needed. Maintenance products, such as the heater and sauna cleaners, are additional recommendations on how to best preserve your sauna.

On an annual basis, it is recommended you hand vacuum the heater cavity, clean or replace heater stones as needed, and sand down benches with fine-grain sandpaper. Find additional information on how to best care for and maintain your sauna here.

Great kit, great service

This is a very nice kit backed up by excellent service. I had some questions during construction and Hailey and Rick went out of their way to help me.
I’m troubled by the negative review posted by Emily Patterson. Two of us (non-contractors) built this sauna in about a week and a half and we added some extras (tar paper, additional joists…). The instructions were clear and we were not bothered by the metric dimensions. If you have played with Lincoln logs as a kid you can build this sauna. If you have a smart phone you can convert millimeters to inches - no big deal. In terms of delivery, it was well communicated to us that we needed a few people to offload from the flatbed truck. Piece of cake, it took about an hour. Regarding heat, if you actually do your research you will know that wood fired is the way to go. It is authentic and hotter than electric. Also cabin saunas are less maintenance than barrel saunas - research will tell you this too. Our sauna is too new to talk about mold and rot, but I live in Oregon and I know that it is the owner’s responsibility to be vigilant about preventing mold on wooden structures. We will treat the outside of this unit to be safe. I doubt the claim about rot after just two years.
Is this sauna perfect? No, some of the logs were twisted, but nothing that could not be remedied with a monkey wrench and pipe clamps.
Overall this sauna is a great value and the folks at Almost Heaven were fantastic. It gets plenty hot and we look forward to many years of enjoyment.
P.S. we also bought the outdoor shower and love it!

Don't Waste Your Money

I purchased this Sauna in Dec 2022 after years of meticulous hunting for a sauna. I chose this due to price and customer reviews. Less than two years later mold was forming all over the wood, air constantly seeped out preventing it from getting hot enough and the kit was VERY DIFFICULT for two licensed contractors to put together. It took them two weeks to setup and they had to convert instructions from european metrics. Guests constantly complained it wasn't get hot enough. I never sweat in it myself, not one time. I resealed it twice and finally reached out to Almost Heaven. After weeks of back and forth with Almost Heaven. They mailed me replacement coils and then finally a replacement heater. The tech was very insistent that the heater was fine, but it never got above 125 degrees. The new heater NEVER got above 125 degrees and multiple contractors verified it was assembled properly per the instructions. I lost a LOT of business during this time and it took 3 weeks to get the replacement heater and it still never reached anything beyond 125 degrees. This was a huge investment for me totaling 22,000 when the platform for it was built and the labor was paid. Then seeing the mold issues forming less than two years after getting it setup was maddening. I definitely would get a barrel sauna not from this company. The way the sauna arrived was insane and took 2 guys 3 hours to unload off a truck. Then it was very very difficult to setup which enables Almost Heaven to blame contractors for any issues. I used very experienced guys who knew what they were doing. I asked about sealing the outside to prevent moisture issues and they said that wood was meant to last for years. Well, it didn't even last two years before it started rotting on top of never getting hot enough.

The best kit on the market

I've researched every option for a kit sauna in the US and imho this is the best one for the money. It is a perfect size for 2 people (you can fit 3, maybe 4 if you are really close friends and one doesn't mind sitting on the lower bench).
The changing room is essential for a sauna - you don't lose much heat every time you enter/exit and you have space that's at a comfortable temperature to rest between sessions. The changing room is a good size too - we fit a bench, a couple of stools, the wood rack, and a place to hang robes and towels.
The benches are at the right height - you want to be above the stones for the best experience (we accidentally installed them higher than they were supposed to go and it turned out even better).
The install process isn't terribly complicated (we were expecting something way worse but it was fairly straightforward), though we weren't as fast as the other reviewer. My husband (occasionally with help from his dad) installed it in 4 weekends working maybe 5 hours per day. At least one of those weekends was spent on sorting out the foundation.
We got Harvia Legend wood burning stove, it is gorgeous and gets up to temp in an hour or two, we aren't the most efficient at it yet.
The purchase and delivery process was smooth and every question I had was answered promptly.
If you are considering a sauna, get this one, you won't regret it. The only thing better than this is a complete custom build for a lot more $.

Easy Peasy

My 86 year old Mom, my 62 year old wife and I, built the entire kit in 3 days. The 3 angle ceiling trim boards, wood stove and roof shingles remain. I'll get those tomorrow.
I can't wait to get a sweat on!
