KIP Heater vs. The Wall Heater

KIP Heater vs. The Wall Heater

Choosing the Right Sauna Heater: KIP vs. Wall Heater Both the KIP Heater and Wall Heater are excellent choices for heating your sauna, but they offer different features to suit various preferences and setups. This guide will help you decide which heater is best for your sauna experience! KIP Heater: A Classic Choice The KIP Heater is a traditional sauna heater known for its high temperatures, steamy sessions, and classic design.   Key Features: High Heat Output – Reaches 175-185°F, allowing for an authentic sauna experience. Steam Option – Pour water over the heater to create a steamy, relaxing environment. Size Options – Available in 4.5kW, 6.0kW, or 8.0kW, depending on your sauna size. Depth – The KIP has a wider depth of 11 inches, requiring slightly more space. Control Options: Dial Control (Manual) – Located at the bottom of the heater, common in barrel saunas. Digital Control (Xenio-Compatible) – Ideal for indoor saunas, allowing for remote start and precise temperature control. Wall Heater: A Sleek, Modern Upgrade The Wall Heater is a newer, more compact option that offers faster heating and easier controls.   Key Features: High Heat Output – Also reaches 175-185°F for a satisfying sauna experience. Steam Option – Like the KIP, you can pour water over the heater for added humidity. Size Options – Available in 6.0kW or 8.0kW, depending on sauna size. Slim Design – At just 9 inches deep, it’s a space-saving option. Convenient Controls: Top-Mounted Dials – Unlike the KIP, the dials are located at the top, eliminating the need to bend down when adjusting settings. Fast & Efficient Heating – The enhanced heating elements allow for quicker heat-up times. Which Sauna Heater Is Right for You? Feature KIP Heater Wall Heater Max Temperature 175-185°F 175-185°F Steam Capability Yes Yes Size Options 4.5kW, 6.0kW, 8.0kW 6.0kW, 8.0kW Depth 11 inches 9 inches Control Location Bottom dials Top dials Remote Start (Xenio) Available with digital models Not available Best for Classic sauna experience Quick heating & convenience Final Thoughts Both the KIP Heater and Wall Heater provide an excellent sauna experience, but your choice depends on your space, control preferences, and desired heating efficiency. Choose the KIP Heater if you want a classic, traditional sauna experience with optional digital controls. Choose the Wall Heater if you prefer a sleeker design, faster heating, and top-mounted controls for easy access. No matter which heater you select, you’ll enjoy the incredible benefits of sauna bathing—so sit back, relax, and enjoy the heat! Still have questions? Contact us at 888-355-3050—we’re happy to help!

What is the Best Temperature to Sauna at?

What is the Best Temperature to Sauna at?

You’ve set up your sauna, you’re ready to relax, but one question remains: What temperature should my sauna be at? The short answer? It depends! There’s no magic number—what feels perfect for one person may be too hot for another. Sauna preferences are highly individual, and the ideal temperature varies based on factors like sauna type, personal tolerance, and wellness goals. So, how do you find your perfect sauna temperature? Let’s break it down. Infrared vs. Traditional Saunas: What’s the Difference? Before choosing your optimal temperature, it’s important to understand the two main types of saunas: infrared and traditional. Each heats the body in a different way, affecting how hot the sauna needs to be. Infrared Saunas: Gentle & Effective Heat Operate at 120–150°F Use infrared rays to heat the body directly, rather than the air around you Encourage sweating and relaxation without extreme heat Ideal for those who prefer milder temperatures and longer sessions Best for: Gentle detoxification, muscle relaxation, and those who don’t enjoy intense heat. Traditional Saunas: The Classic High-Heat Experience Typically heated to 160–195°F Use an electric or wood-burning heater to warm the entire room Promote increased circulation, heavy sweating, and intense heat exposure Adding water to hot sauna rocks creates steam, making it feel even hotter Best for: A high-intensity sauna experience, deep sweating, and post-workout recovery. Finding Your Ideal Sauna Temperature Because everyone’s heat tolerance is different, finding the right temperature is a matter of trial and adjustment. Here’s how to dial in your perfect sauna session: For Infrared Saunas: Start at 120°F and gradually increase over multiple sessions. Pay attention to how you feel—you should be warm, relaxed, and sweating but not uncomfortable. Experiment with session length (typically 20–45 minutes). If you enjoy deeper heat, aim for the higher end (140–150°F). For Traditional Saunas: Begin at 160°F and slowly increase up to 185–195°F over time. Use a thermometer to monitor temperature changes. Add water to the sauna rocks for an instant burst of steam, making it feel hotter. Start with shorter sessions (10–15 minutes) and build up as you acclimate. Pro Tips for the Best Sauna Experience Listen to your body: If you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or uncomfortably hot, take a break. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water before and after your session. Use a log: Track your sauna sessions, noting temperature, duration, and how you feel to find your ideal setup. Experiment: There’s no one-size-fits-all answer, so adjust and personalize your sauna routine. When it comes to sauna bathing, there’s no single "perfect" temperature—only the one that feels right for you. Whether you prefer the gentle warmth of an infrared sauna or the intense heat of a traditional sauna, the key is to listen to your body and adjust accordingly. Start at a moderate temperature, experiment with different heat levels, and track how you feel after each session. Over time, you’ll discover your ideal sauna experience, maximizing the benefits for relaxation, recovery, and overall wellness. So turn up the heat (or keep it mild!), and enjoy the journey of finding your magic sauna number!

Heater Element FAQ

Heater Element FAQ

The way you place sauna stones and use water can significantly impact the health of your heating elements and heater. Proper care ensures longevity, efficiency, and safety. Stone Placement: Stability and Protection When arranging your sauna stones, be sure to: Place stones between each row and loop of the heating elements to provide stability. Ensure elements are properly spaced to prevent metal-on-metal contact. Over time, stones can degrade or settle into the heater. It’s a good idea to check them annually to maintain proper spacing and avoid direct metal contact, which can lead to damage. Water Usage: The Right Way Pouring water onto hot stones creates steam, enhancing your sauna experience—but it must be done correctly: Only add water when the stones have reached at least 160°F. Use no more than one ladle (¼ cup) at a time to prevent thermal shock. Improper water usage, such as pouring water too soon, can lead to bends, cracks, or bubbling on the heating elements. This damage may also be caused by metal-on-metal contact or even electrical surges. When to Replace Heating Elements Signs that your heating elements may need replacing include: Visible cracks, bends, or bubbling. Uneven heating or performance issues. If you suspect your heating elements are failing, we’ve attached a replacement guide for the KIP B series to this email. Replacement parts are also available on our website here. Warranty & Support Heating elements are covered under a 1-year warranty. If your heater is still under warranty and needs replacement, please: Take clear photos of the exposed heating elements. Include the element serial number (if visible). Send this information, along with your name and order details, to sales@almostheaven.com. Taking proper care of your sauna stones and heating elements ensures a longer-lasting, more enjoyable sauna experience. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Why Upgrade your Heater?

Why Upgrade your Heater?

The standard KIP heater included in our indoor sauna units reaches 170-180°F within the first 45-60 minutes and a maximum temperature of 194°F. If you’re looking for a faster, hotter, and more efficient sauna experience, upgrading to a Spirit or Virta heater is a great option. While saunas typically don't exceed 194°F, you can experience 200°F+ by introducing steam once the heater nears its maximum temperature. Why Upgrade Your Standard Heater? Faster Heat-Up Times The Spirit and Virta heaters heat up more quickly than the standard KIP with dials, so you can enjoy your sauna session sooner. Sauna Post-Workout Benefits

Sauna Post-Workout Benefits

Adding a post-workout sauna can help with muscle recovery, give you an endurance boost, and improve overall performance. If you’re reading this blog post, you are probably already aware of some of the benefits that heat has on the body. Maybe you’ve even experienced some of the benefits in your own sauna or are looking to experience it in the future. Here are some of the benefits:  Muscle Recovery  The most well known benefit of using a sauna after a workout is muscle recovery. The heat of the sauna encourages relaxation and healing. Which is beneficial after a long strenuous workout, or even the quick and short workouts!  Pain and injury to the body causes your muscles to weaken and atrophy over time, which is why it is so important to give your body time to recover. Heating your entire body in a sauna can help to strengthen your muscles and reduce the possibility of further injury. In her extensive research on heat exposure and its effects on performance enhancement, Dr. Rhonda Perciavalle-Patrick, Ph. D. coined the term “hyperthermic conditioning.” Hyperthermic conditioning describes any situation where the body’s core temperature rises. Anytime you deliberately acclimate your body (independent of aerobic physical activity) to heat it is referred to as hyperthermic conditioning., minimizing pain in muscle recovery. Endurance Boost Whether you are an athlete or not, an increase in endurance during a workout is going to be beneficial to your overall health. By acclimating your body to the heat of a sauna (hyperthermic conditioning), you are preparing your body to heat up while working out. Your body will then make adjustments, boosting your overall ability to workout at a higher level for a longer period of time.“There is a growing body of evidence suggesting that heat acclimation whether through exercise or sauna use promotes physiological adaptations which results in increased muscle mass, endurance, and stress tolerance. Additionally, heat stress has shown positive results on improving focus, memory, learning, and growth of new brain cells.” A little bit of heat on the body can be a good thing, increasing blood flow to your heart and muscles which strengthens endurance and builds muscle mass.  Increase in Overall Performance Using a sauna not only improves physical fitness performance, but they also improve our mental performance. Our bodies and minds need time to rest and recover, and sitting in a sauna for even just 15 minutes could be exactly what you need. Studies are proving this to be true. “In one study, when a small group of well-trained distance runners sat in a sauna for 30 minutes after training four times a week, they improved their performance in a run to exhaustion test by 32 percent and decreased their 5K time by nearly two percent after just three weeks.” And if you are an athlete, you know that half of the challenge is physical and half is mental. Our bodies and brains are connected. But don’t just take our word for it! Try it out for yourself. Do you feel a difference in recovery if you use the sauna post-workout? We'd love to hear your results!
